HourTab — Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

The short version

Your work hours stay on your phone. HourTab has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We never see your hours, your pay or your notes.

What we collect

Your hours, jobs and pay: nothing. HourTab has no accounts, no login, no analytics, no ads and no tracking of any kind. There is no HourTab server that receives your data.

From version 1.1.0, HourTab is free for 7 days and then asks for one one-time purchase to keep using it (no subscription). The payment is processed by Google Play and the purchase is checked by RevenueCat (see Third parties). The dates of your free trial are stored only on your phone. Versions 1.0.x had no purchase turned on, so no purchase data exists for them.

Where your data lives

Everything you enter — shifts, breaks, jobs, hourly pay and pay history, overtime and rounding settings, day notes, your name if you add it, and the employer details you type for a timesheet (company, supervisor, employee ID) — is stored in a database inside the app's private storage on your phone. The automatic copies HourTab makes (the last 7) are kept there too.

Your data only leaves your phone when YOU do it:

HourTab is your personal record, not your employer's time clock. Your employer does not see your hours unless you share a file with them.

Third parties

Your hours are never sent to anyone. The app includes one third-party SDK, RevenueCat, used only for the one-time purchase. From version 1.1.0, RevenueCat receives the purchase receipt, an anonymous app user ID and a device identifier, over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, to check whether this Google account bought HourTab. This is not linked to your identity, is never used for tracking or advertising, and is never sold.

Once, after you have used HourTab for a while (never on your first day), it may ask Google Play to show its standard rating window. Any rating or review you leave goes to Google Play, not to us.

Permissions

HourTab uses internet access (only for the purchase), Google Play billing (for that purchase) and vibration (a short tap on a few actions, like clocking in or out). It does not use your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, calendar or notifications. To restore a backup or choose a backup folder, you pick the file or folder yourself on your phone's own screen; HourTab can only reach what you pick.

The app package also lists two entries that come with standard libraries: network state (lets those libraries check whether the phone is online) and the Google Play install referrer service. HourTab never reads the install referrer and does not measure where your download came from.

Data safety summary

Data collected: purchase history and a device or other identifier, only for the one-time purchase, used only for app functionality, not shared, not used to track you, and encrypted in transit. Your hours and everything else: not collected, not shared.

How to delete your data

Your data is yours, and you can remove it at any time:

  1. On your phone: open HourTab → Settings → Delete all my data. After two confirmations it permanently erases every shift, job, note, setting and automatic copy on the phone. It keeps only your language choice, whether you bought HourTab and the dates of your free trial (so deleting your data does not restart the trial); none of these is about your work. If you use a backup folder, the second step has a switch (on by default) to also delete the HourTab backup copies in that folder; HourTab only deletes its own HourTab-backup-…json files there, never other files. Uninstalling the app also removes all of its data from the phone.
  2. Files you exported or saved: PDFs, CSVs and backup files you shared or saved outside the app are yours; delete them where you keep them.
  3. The purchase record: if you bought HourTab, email us at cmorehollman@gmail.com and we will request deletion of the anonymous purchase receipt held by RevenueCat. No personal identity is attached to it. Your Google Play order history is managed in your Google account.

Estimates, not advice

HourTab gives estimates to help you check your pay. It isn't payroll, tax or legal advice. Overtime rules vary by state and employer.

Children

HourTab is made for adults who work for pay. It is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its date. If a future version ever sends your hours or any other data off your phone, we will say so here before that version is published.
