Sowlog — Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 13, 2026

The short version: your seed packets, beds, plantings and garden log stay on your phone. Sowlog has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We never see your garden data.

What we collect

Your garden data: nothing. Sowlog has no accounts, no login, no analytics, no ads and no tracking of any kind. There is no Sowlog server that receives your data.

Sowlog is free for 7 days with everything open, then asks for one optional one-time purchase to keep adding new entries (no subscription). The payment is processed by Google Play and the purchase is checked by RevenueCat (see Third parties). The dates of your free trial are stored only on your phone.

Where your data lives

Everything you enter — seed packets, beds, plantings, sowed/germinated/transplanted/harvested entries, your frost zone or last-frost date, your weight unit and settings — is stored in a database inside the app's private storage on your phone.

Your data only leaves your phone when YOU do it: an exported season summary (PDF or CSV) or a backup file that you share or save through your phone's share menu. If you save it to a cloud service, that service's own privacy terms apply; Sowlog never uploads anything itself.

Third parties

Your garden data is never sent to anyone. The app includes one third-party SDK, RevenueCat, used only for the one-time purchase. RevenueCat receives the purchase receipt, an anonymous app user ID and a device identifier, over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, to check whether this store account bought Sowlog. This is not linked to your identity, is never used for tracking or advertising, and is never sold.

After you have used Sowlog for a while, it may ask Google Play to show its standard rating window. Any rating or review goes to Google Play, not to us.

Permissions

Sowlog uses internet access (only for the purchase), Google Play billing (for that purchase) and vibration (a short tap on a few actions). It does not use your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, calendar or notifications. To restore a backup you pick the file yourself on your phone's own screen; Sowlog can only read the file you pick. Standard libraries in the app package also list network state and the Google Play install referrer service; Sowlog never reads the install referrer.

Data safety summary

Data collected: purchase history and a device or other identifier, only for the one-time purchase, used only for app functionality, not shared, not used to track you, and encrypted in transit. Your garden data and everything else: not collected, not shared.

How to delete your data

  1. On your phone: open Sowlog → Settings → Delete all my data. It permanently erases every packet, bed, planting, log entry and setting on the phone (the free-trial dates are kept so deleting does not restart the trial). Uninstalling the app also removes all of its data from the phone.
  2. Files you exported or saved (PDF, CSV, backups) are yours; delete them where you keep them.
  3. The purchase record: if you bought Sowlog, email us at cmorehollman@gmail.com and we will request deletion of the anonymous purchase receipt held by RevenueCat. Your Google Play order history is managed in your Google account.

Estimates, not advice

Planting dates are estimates based on the frost zone or last-frost date you choose. Local weather varies; check your own conditions before you plant. Sowlog makes no promise about germination or harvests.

Children

Sowlog is made for adult gardeners. It is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its date. If a future version ever sends your garden data off your phone, we will say so here before that version is published.
