Smidge — Privacy Policy

Smidge: ADHD Cleaning App · Last updated: October 6, 2026

The short version

Your spaces, steps, photos and history stay on your phone. Smidge has no account, no ads, no analytics and no AI. We never see what you clean, what you keep or what you photograph.

Smidge is free for 7 days with everything open, then an optional one-time payment through Google Play (processed by RevenueCat) keeps it open. Saving a backup and exporting your data stay free, always.

What we collect

Your cleaning data: nothing. Smidge has no accounts, no login, no analytics, no ads, no crash reporting and no tracking of any kind. There is no Smidge server that receives your data.

Smidge is free for 7 days with everything open. After that, one optional one-time payment through Google Play keeps it open for good (no subscription, no ads). The trial needs no card and never charges by itself: you only pay if you tap Unlock. The trial is counted on your phone only: Smidge saves the date you first opened a version with the trial, inside the app, and never sends it anywhere. When you buy, the payment is made in Google Play and the purchase is processed and checked by RevenueCat (see Third parties). Smidge never sees your card or payment details, and you never create an account. If you don't buy, nothing is deleted: saving a full backup (with your photos) and exporting your Done list stay free, always.

Where your data lives

Everything you create in Smidge is stored in a database inside the app's private storage on your phone: your spaces, the steps and sessions you do, your routines and their checkmarks, your declutter decisions (and any item names you type), your Maybe box and Take-out list, the thoughts you park for later, and your settings. Before & after photos are saved in the app's private folder on your phone.

Your data only leaves your phone when YOU send it:

Third parties

Your spaces, steps, photos and history are never sent to anyone. Smidge includes one third-party service, RevenueCat, used only for the optional one-time purchase. When Smidge opens or comes back to the screen, it asks Google Play through RevenueCat for the price in your country and whether your Google Play account already bought Smidge; when you buy or restore, RevenueCat processes and checks the purchase. For this, RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, a device identifier and, if you bought Smidge, the purchase receipt, over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. This is not linked to your name or email, is never used for tracking or advertising, and is never sold.

After you have finished sessions on a few different days (never on your first day), Smidge may ask Google Play once to show its standard rating window. Any rating or review you leave goes to Google Play, not to us.

Permissions

PermissionWhyWhen
CameraOnly for before & after photos. The photos stay on your phone.Asked only when you tap "Take a photo". Say no and you can still pick a photo with "Choose a photo", which uses your phone's own picker and needs no permission.
NotificationsAn optional sound when a timer ends, and an optional gentle daily nudge. Both are scheduled on your phone; nothing is sent from a server.Asked only when you turn one of them on.
Run at startupKeeps your daily nudge scheduled after the phone restarts.Never asked (Android grants it).
VibrationA short tap when you finish a step, count an item or when time's up.Never asked.
Internet and Google Play billingOnly for the optional one-time purchase.Never asked.

Smidge does not use your location, contacts, microphone, calendar or files. To restore a backup, you pick the file yourself on your phone's own screen; Smidge can only read the file you pick. The app package also lists network state and wake lock: they come with the standard libraries Smidge uses for purchases and notifications. Smidge does not use push messages, and the push part of the notifications library is never set up.

Data safety summary

Data collected: purchase history and a device or other identifier, only for the optional purchase, used only for app functionality, not shared, not used to track you, and encrypted in transit. Your spaces, steps, routines, photos, notes and history: not collected, not shared.

Not a medical app

Smidge is a cleaning helper made with ADHD brains in mind. It does not ask for, store or share any health information.

How to delete your data

Your data is yours, and you can remove it at any time:

  1. On your phone: open Smidge → Settings → Delete all my data. After two confirmations it permanently erases every space, routine, session, declutter item, parked note, photo and setting on the phone, and cancels any scheduled notifications. The only things it keeps are whether you bought Smidge, so you don't lose your purchase, and the dates of your free trial, so deleting doesn't start a new one. Uninstalling the app also removes all of its data from the phone.
  2. Files you shared or saved: backups, CSV files, PDFs, photos and lists you sent outside the app are yours; delete them where you keep them.
  3. The purchase record: if you bought Smidge, email us at cmorehollman@gmail.com and we will request deletion of the anonymous purchase receipt held by RevenueCat. No name or email is attached to it. Your Google Play order history is managed in your Google account.

Children

Smidge is made for adults. It is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its date. If a future version ever sends your spaces, steps, photos or any other data off your phone, we will say so here before that version is published.
