Oathway — Privacy Policy

What we collect

Your study data: nothing. Oathway has no sign-up and no login, and it does not send your progress or answers to us or to anyone else.

Purchases: since version 1.1.0, Oathway is free for 7 days with everything open, and no card is needed for the trial. After that, buying is your choice: one single purchase through Google Play keeps Oathway open for life. There is no subscription and nothing is ever charged automatically. If you don't buy, nothing is deleted, and exporting your progress (CSV) or saving a backup stays free, always, right on the screen that appears after the trial.

The 7-day trial is counted on your phone only: Oathway saves how much of the trial you used in its private storage and never sends it to us. If you used Oathway 1.0 before (it had no purchase), your 7 days start the first time you open version 1.1.0. Google Play takes the payment and RevenueCat processes the purchase (see Third parties). We never see your card or payment details.

Where your data lives

Everything you do in Oathway is saved in a database inside the app's private storage on your phone:

• the test you study (2025 or 2008), 65/20 mode, and the N-400 filing date if you enter it;
• the questions you practiced, your right and missed answers, saved questions and mock test results;
• your state, the answers you edit and the representative you type;
• your interview date if you add one, and your reading and writing practice;
• your settings (language, voice, speed);
• how much of the 7-day trial you used, and whether you bought Oathway (to keep it open).

Android's automatic app backup is turned off for Oathway, so this data is not copied to your Google account. It leaves your phone only if you save a backup file (Oathway-backup.json) or export your progress (Oathway-Progress-YYYY-MM.csv) and share it yourself with the Android share menu. When you restore a backup, Oathway reads the file you pick on your phone and does not upload it.

Speech (voices)

Oathway reads questions aloud with your phone's own text-to-speech. Only question and answer text from the app is spoken. If you choose a voice marked "needs internet", your phone's speech service may send that text to its provider to create the audio. Oathway never sends your progress or your answers.

Links

Links to uscis.gov, senate.gov, house.gov and usa.gov open in your browser. The contact link opens your email app. Those sites and apps have their own privacy policies.

Third parties

• Google Play distributes the app and takes the payment of the one-time purchase, with your Google account.
• RevenueCat (the purchase service) processes the Google Play purchase: it confirms it and tells the app whether you bought Oathway. The app asks it when it opens or comes back to the screen, and when you buy or restore. It receives the purchase receipt (if there is one), an anonymous app user ID and a device identifier, over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, only to confirm the purchase. It never receives your study data. It is not used for advertising or tracking, and we never sell it.

There are no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting services in Oathway.

Permissions

Permission	Why

Oathway does not use the camera, microphone, photos, contacts, location, notifications or the advertising ID.

Data safety summary

Declared in Google Play: purchase history (only if you buy) and device or other IDs (the anonymous purchase ID), both collected only for app functionality, not shared, and encrypted in transit. Nothing else is collected or shared.

How to delete your data

1. On your phone: open Oathway → Settings → Delete all my data. This erases your progress, mock tests, edited answers and settings on the phone, removes the export files Oathway left in its storage, and starts setup again. It keeps only how much of the 7-day trial you used and whether you bought Oathway, so deleting never restarts the trial and never loses your purchase. Uninstalling the app removes all of its data, those two included, at any time (also after the trial). A purchase stays in your Google account and comes back with Restore purchase. Backup or CSV files you shared yourself stay wherever you put them.
2. A purchase record (only if you bought Oathway): email cmorehollman@gmail.com and we will ask RevenueCat to delete the anonymous purchase record. Google Play keeps its own order history under Google's policy.

Not a government app

Oathway is an independent study app made by TechInnova Solutions LLC. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to USCIS or any government agency. The civics questions and answers come from USCIS at uscis.gov/citizenship. The Spanish translations are unofficial and made by Oathway.

Children

Oathway is made for adults getting ready for the naturalization interview. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If what Oathway does with data changes, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date before the new version is published.
